Your head and neck both contain a multitude of important nerves that control sight, smell, hearing, and facial movement. East Alabama Ear, Nose & Throat P.C. physicians are trained to treat many conditions of the head and neck including infectious diseases, benign and malignant (cancerous) tumors, facial trauma, and deformities of the face.
We also perform plastic and reconstructive surgery, tonsillectomies and adenoidectomies.
Many surgical advances are being made in head and neck surgery. Procedures such as tonsillectomies and facial plastic surgeries are becoming less invasive, and new procedures are being developed to treat serious problems such as cleft palate, sleep apnea, and deafness.
We provide treatment for:
Skin Tumors
Skin cysts and tumors are skin problems that sometimes cause pain. Skin cysts are non-cancerous closed pockets or pouches of tissue that are filled with fluid or other material. They feel like small peas beneath the surface of the skin and usually feel smooth and roll under the skin when pressure is applied to them.
Thyroid and Parathyroid Tumors
Thyroid cancer is cancer that develops from the tissues of the thyroid gland. It is a disease in which cells grow abnormally and have the potential to spread to other parts of the body. Parathyroid disease is caused by a single bad parathyroid gland more than 90% of the time. Since there are 4 parathyroid glands, removing one bad gland becomes the simple way to cure the problem.
Tumors of the Mouth
Oral cancer appears as a growth or sore in the mouth that does not go away. Oral cancer, which includes cancers of the lips, tongue, cheeks, floor of the mouth, hard and soft palate, sinuses, and pharynx (throat), can be life threatening if not diagnosed and treated early.
Tumors of the Salivary Glands
Salivary gland cancer starts in one of the salivary glands. It’s not just one disease. There are actually several different salivary glands found inside and near your mouth. Many types of cancer and benign (non-cancerous) tumors can develop in these glands.
