Torn or Split Earlobe Repair

Torn earlobes can occur due to trauma or after wearing heavy earrings for an extended period of time. Earlobes can either be completely torn or the area around a piercing may widen. In order to address this problem, Dr. Carranza can surgically remove the damaged area and reattach the two healthy sides. This is a safe and effective treatment done in the office under local anesthesia. The healing time for an earlobe repair is generally 4 – 6 weeks. During the recovery period, clip-on earrings can be worn after about 1 – 2 weeks. There is no downtime. The ears can even be pierced again once sutures are removed. If you are having a problem with split or torn earlobes and need earlobe repair, call us to determine if you are a candidate for earlobe surgery.
